Mexico City is an incredible city with so much going on. In case you missed my previous blog on it, you can read it here.
But this time I was here on personal business and did not have the time to visit the sites I missed the last time.
For the one evening I stayed over, I booked into the Posada Viena Hotel, Marseille 28, Mexico City. The décor is fabulously Mexican with a very attractive entrance from the street.
I was welcomed by friendly staff, and check-in took all but a few minutes. The all-important Wi-Fi password is given to you before you can ask for it and the connection is good throughout the hotel areas.
The room is large and comfortable with a large king size bed for a good night’s sleep.
Starving, I made my way down to the restaurant of the hotel. Coming from warm Cozumel Island, I certainly felt the cold and ordered a coffee immediately. The coffee had such a smooth, creamy flavor – delicious. Warm homemade bread was set on the table for me to snack on and I obliged willingly.
I ordered a filet and a baked potato. Oh, my goodness, the potato was huge, and besides the sour cream and chives, there was something else added that simply excited my taste buds. As for the fillet; well, I was in my element. It was perfectly prepared and so, so, so delicious. The portion was 400gr, and I devoured every morsel.
I had a blackberry cheesecake for dessert and thinking that nothing could top that meal I thought wrong. So very wrong! The cheesecake was scrumptious, to say the least.
This was all enjoyed thoroughly with a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon, which was exactly to my liking.
The décor of the restaurant is all Mexican and the ceiling is made with fabulous wood beams, it all adds to the ambiance of the perfect food. All in all it was worth every cent, which was not expensive.
Back in the room, I added the extra blanket I’d requested and settled in for a peaceful sleep.
Now for breakfast; the menu is longer and larger than that of the evening menu; I have never seen so many options for breakfast. Still rather full from my previous night’s indulging I ordered biscuit and jam and again had their delicious coffee. Well, the serving was huge, and the jam was delectable. I ate it all.
Breakfast is served in a different dining hall and is as authentically Mexican as is the hotel.
I encourage you to spend a night or two at the Posada Viena when you’re next in Mexico City I am sure you will love it as much as I did.

It will never cease to amaze me how you can eat like that and stay so beautifully slender! 🙂
Glad you enjoyed your visit, my friend.
