Last month I had the awesome experience of Stand Up Paddle (SUP) and recently I met Yibran Aragon at Cafe del Mare a fabulous restaurant situated right on the beach. Immediately we were attracted to his energetic personality and found his stories so interesting.
Born and raised in Veracruz a city in the Gulf of Mexico he discovered his adventurous personality at an early age. He travelled through many cities in Mexico over a period of twenty years as he worked in the tourism industry. He learnt and experienced adventure sports such as scuba diving, sail boats, Bungee jumping and much more.
During these years, he concentrated on making enough money to do an open water dive course and to qualify as a full cage diver. Now he was lucky enough to work as an underwater photographer in the cenotes in Cancun. Yibran laughs at the memories of using the first underwater digital camera; it was an Olympus he recalls using a floppy disc which only stored seven photos at a time. In those days, the tourists were in awe of this incredible technology.
While living and working in Cancun, he took three months off to surf in Australia at all the famous golden beaches; it was in here that his love for surfing escalated. He returned to Mexico and came to Cozumel introducing Stand Up Paddle to the Island. Now with the many competitive extreme sports centres on the Island, Yibran remains independent and the cheapest for an hour SUP lesson.
His love for photography continues with his photos exhibited in Antibes and Mercy in France and several Scuba Expos worldwide.
Together with his wife Gilda they work on a green project to educate government and people to keep our planet clean and safe.
Phone or email Yibran to book your lesson, it will be the best SUP lesson you could wish for.
