“Before I came across this book, I didn’t know that South Africa employed women with a University degree as Radar operators to detect U-boats during World War 2. I have never seen historical photos of a female drill squad, Women’s singles quarters at Silversands, female operators at a Radar Station, etc. To be honest, I didn’t know South Africa took part in World War 2, either. The author researched the history of South Africa during World War 2 carefully and wrote a great, great story focused on these female soldiers. Before reading this book, I didn’t even know about their existence, but as I read this book, I laughed with them, I took training with them, and cried a lot with them. The author showed us a superb way to understand history and how to deeply feel connected with people who lived in the past and made this world as it is now. This book is indeed worth reading! “
